David is a fantastic tutor who has been helping me since middle school. When I started with David, I was behind in math and had very little confidence in my math skills. Over the last five years, I have not only improved my competence in math through working with him but have come to genuinely love the subject. David is pragmatic in his approach to tutoring, but also flexible and accommodating to a student’s needs, the second of which was key as my focus shifted between test prep and classwork throughout high school, and the math I was covering became increasingly difficult. While David helped me achieve perfect scores (800) on the SAT II math 2 and regular SAT math section, his easy way of breaking down complex concepts and the enthusiasm he brings to tackling math also fostered a way of thinking and approaching problem-solving that I will carry beyond high school. I would recommend David to students of all levels looking to improve their math skills (or critical reading which he also tutors), whether they seek to close an existing gap in their knowledge or challenge themselves academically.
Adam Zander, 6/21/2023: Now that I have graduated, I have been taking stock of those who have shaped my life the most. I wanted to send emails to them to express my gratitude. You sir, are at the top of that list. So thank you! We have had quite the journey together. From 7th grade studying for the SSAT, to summer calculus training, to studying for the SAT. I am now on to a new journey, at your alma mater [Columbia], and that is all thanks to you. You guidance has made me a better thinker, and I am eternally grateful.

"Zoe's second run at the SAT was indeed more successful! This time around she got 660 in reading (vs. 560 the 1st time), and 710 in writing (vs. 670).
Thanks very much for your help. Most importantly, you improved her self-confidence so that she wasn't as nervous during the test."

"I want to thank you for helping me to gain confidence in my analytical writing skills. You are not only an expert in all GRE subjects, but you were able to teach me how to organize my thoughts and to write effectively for the best outcome towards the exam. I really appreciated your patience in tutoring me, and for helping me to clearly see the important points to consider in structuring my essays. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to work with you, and I think I did well on the GRE because of all your help. I will also be able to use what you’ve taught me for my future essays in all my classes!

"David has been an extremely helpful tutor. Just one hour with David and I feel like I have gained a lot of useful knowledge for tackling the SAT. The book David created is also very helpful because it goes over the most common questions that are on the SAT.
Additionally, David offers “Online tutoring”. Online tutoring is a math program that allows me to sit at home and answer math problems (for one hour online) while an online tutor is there to help if I have questions."

"David is a overall a fantastic tutor! He has really helped me steer my math career in the right direction. He has been helping me for over a year now in Algebra and Geometry. He understands where my weak points are and adjusts his tutoring techniques to meet my needs. I would highly recommend David's tutoring to any student struggling in math!"

"I hired David as my private tutor when I had to get ready for the GRE. I am a busy professional and had very little time to devote to studying for the exam. David set up a study schedule for me (with assignments) and also reviewed many concepts during our sessions. Overall, I had a GREAT experience. I am happy to report that I was admitted to Harvard for graduate school and I seriously could not have done it without David's nonjudgmental and calm approach to teaching.
The other great thing about going with a local private tutor is that you support local businesses and local talent. I have tried Kaplan and other commercial methods for a clinical licensing exam in the past, and I was very dissatisfied.
Go with a smart, efficient, and professional private tutor and you won't regret it. I am very grateful I had an opportunity to work with David."

"After two and-a-half years of being tutored by David, I have gained much more knowledge in a variety of school-related subjects and, of course, the SATs. I have started with Insight Tutoring in the summer before my sophomore year of high school without any knowledge whatsoever about the SATs, and David taught me not only how to solve certain questions on the test, but also the test-taking skills necessary for scoring well. He makes the SATs seem not as daunting as it really is by giving special tools or tricks to score more points.
Additionally, David has been a major contributor in helping me do well in school. If I ever faced difficulty in certain classes, I would ask him for help, and within that hour of the tutoring session, I would feel so much more confident in the material.
The price for an hour session is reasonable and the one-on-one session is definitely worth it, so I recommend anyone who needs help with the SATs or class subjects to go to David!"

"David is a great tutor!
I was recommended to him by a couple of my friends who had said that they received fantastic results on their SAT's after having spent a couple months with him. They had increased their scores by at least 100 points! So i decided to give it a try. He really helped with my SAT's, both ones, and twos. He not only explained in detail the questions that I did not understand, but also taught me easy and insightful ways to get around the more difficult questions, teaching me tricks that were easy to remember. I recommend him to anyone who is struggling with the SAT's."

"David is a very creative and helpful person. I needed help for my SAT, and a friend of my parents introduced me to David. He really prepped me for the Critical Reading. A lot of the vocabulary words he went over with me appeared on the actual SAT. I think that for most people, it's the Reading part that's the most difficult. So if you want to really improve on the SAT....CALL DAVID!!!!! "

"So what does everyone think when they here SAT? Those three letters hold so many different connotations, most of which create immense fear and dread, But you know what? I've found that it really doesn't have to be that way.
I decided that I needed some extra help in that specific area. So my dad and I did a little research and found two prospective tutors (one being David, of course). I went back and forth between the two, but I finally decided that David would be best for me because:
-He's extraordinarily insightful and has a huge range of expertise which allows for him to explain anything and everything in wonderful depth.
-In my case, his published book is a great help and study guide that allows for me to review useful tricks and tips about the SATs.
-He's open and willing to work with anything you might have questions on.
-He has a wonderful sens of humor which makes every class a pleasure to participate in.
-He's located in a perfectly accessible location
-And one of the most important things is that his classes are perfectly affordable. Nothing like these $250/hour tutors and such. That was one of the most determining factors for me, since, I don't think anyone should pay way more for someone who's as or less good at what he does than David,
So, if your looking for a wonderful tutor, mentor and friend, consider signing up with David. "

"David does a fantastic job of preparing you for whatever test you will be taking. "If you're anything like myself, and you're absolutely terrified of taking the GRE.....CALL DAVID !!!! Don't stare endlessly into your prep books, you will learn 3x as much spending only 1 hour in his one-on-one tutoring sessions. I am currently reviewing and re-learning math concepts I haven't seen in 15+years. He has been so helpful breaking things down so I could understand the material, not just memorize it!!! Additionally he has everything you need at his tutoring sight; books, paper, pencils etc. if you are coming straight from work/school. If you are interested in doing some additional studying on your own, he has even written a creative book full of SAT/GRE type problems to supplement your sessions. He is an extremely personable guy who can understand and empathize with you about the stresses of taking a test like the SAT/GRE. David will also prioritize certain concepts for you based on your level of ability and your time constrictions. Overall, if you've got a lot of time, or are in a pinch he'll help you out!"

I have worked with hundreds of students from public and private schools across the Bay Area, including Lowell, SOTA, Lick-Wilmerding, UC Berkeley, the San Francisco School, University High School, Saint Ignatius, and many others. For a combined 10 years, I conducted on-site, comprehensive SAT prep classes at the International High School (FAIS/IHS) and Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep.

Word on the Street: I often overhear my students saying, “I learned more in one hour with David than in one week of math at school.”
