English Tutoring
I offer English tutoring for grades 4 through 12. I can help your kids unlock their word-power, improve reading comprehension, and develop writing skills. Lessons focus on important academic fundamentals. For vocabulary development, I make learning fun, showing students creative ways to remember words through mnemonic devices or use in context. To improve reading abilities, I help students read and comprehend challenging books or articles and then lead discussion around the topic. I also help students learn to improve their communication skills through writing. Whether it's creative writing or essay writing, I help students through the process from brainstorming ideas to final edits.

Rates

The rate for all lessons, in person or online, is $95 per hour. Most lessons are one hour, but other lengths are available upon request and billed at a prorated basis.

With a few exceptions, all lessons in a calendar month are billed as a single statement. Your timely payment for the entire month of tutoring ensures that I can keep costs low for all students.

Cancellations: Sorry, all lessons cancelled less than a full day in advance for any reason are billed in full. By letting me know a MINIMUM of 24 hours in advance, you allow me to find other students in need to fill your time slot. Lessons cancelled or rescheduled between 24 and 48 hours in advance are billed a nominal $20 cancellation fee.

Assessments: Detailed assessments of a student's progress are available upon request but not included in the hourly tutoring rate. Families who seek an analysis of their child's needs are generally billed one-half hour for a progress report.

Ways to save: Group lessons can be a good way to save. Students who need help in the same area may be able to coordinate and share the lesson. Rates are $60 per student per hour for two-on-one tutoring.
